#15: How to get rid of cellulite with Emma Sgourakis

Uncategorized Aug 16, 2020

I get this question all the time from women. They ask why cellulite happens and how they can get rid of it.

And I know it’s possible to get rid of it because we’ve had women in our program who have done just that.

In this podcast episode, I talk to Emma Sgourakis, my good friend, nutritionist, and the co-founder of @saturee_official, about why cellulite happens and how you can get rid of it.

Cellulite happens when the tissue becomes more permeable. This means the cells become leaky and lose their structure.

This is often because of estrogen dominance.

You can become estrogen dominant from not eating enough, not eating enough of the RIGHT foods, from stress, overexercising, and more. For example, if you don’t get enough Vitamin A or enough calories in your diet, your body is unable to make progesterone which balances estrogen so you end up estrogen dominant.

In this state, the body doesn’t heal well.

Estradiol, a certain type of estrogen,...

#14: How this mum of 3 special needs boys beat her eating disorder and food obsession

Uncategorized Jul 26, 2020

Many women suffer from eating disorders, or binge-purge cycling, but they just don’t talk about it. A lot of these women keep it a secret due to the guilt and shame associated with it.

Sonia Bridgewater used to be one of those women.

Sonia is 46 years old, married, with 3 boys - all of whom have special needs. I admire her a lot.

From the age of 9, Sonia has been in a constant battle with food. It started with anorexia. She had been sick and lost a few kilograms. When a boy made a comment about liking her bum in her jeans after being sick, she started restricting her food. She’d have secret binges then throw up afterwards.

Food began to consume her life. It was a prison she couldn’t escape. She also started over-exercising. At 16 years old, she started seeing counsellors about it. But the cycle continued. She became a functioning bulimic where she would binge and purge a couple of times a week.

She also tried various diets including carb cycling, paleo,...

#13: Ash and Sarah Armstrong - Sugar, Carbs & beating Amenorrhea

Uncategorized Jul 17, 2020

I just loved this podcast soooo much!

The Strong Sistas, Ash and Sarah, are SO genuine and honest about their journey. I know a lot of women that could relate to exactly what they’re going through. If you don’t already follow them, check out their page!

In this podcast episode, I talked to these two Strong Sistas about their health journey and how it’s evolved, especially as of late. They are constantly learning and transforming their definition of health - it’s bloody inspiring!

Three months or so ago, Ashley and Sarah started incorporating more Ray Peat ideas into their diet. They had originally been on a carnivore diet (after vegan diets, fasting, and more).

Previous to this more recent change, they had developed autoimmune conditions and stopped having their periods.

They found the carnivore diet helped with their autoimmune conditions and helped them discover a more sustainable way of eating (in terms of environmentally and animal-friendly...

#12: Suffering from severe digestive issues, SIBO or an autoimmune condition?

Uncategorized Jul 11, 2020

Do you struggle with severe digestive issues? Thyroid issues or an autoimmune disease?

Is constipation a frequent problem?

Let me introduce you to Lisa Vaughan.

Lisa is a nearly 50-year-old mum, and she has her own business, so she’s got a lot happening in her life.

Lisa has experienced constipation since she was born. She had IBS and even had her appendix taken out as a kid since doctors thought it would help. About six years ago and after a ton of research, she uncovered that she had SIBO, an excessive bacteria in the small intestine.

She did numerous diets that she thought would help - from water fasting to 21-day liquid-only diets to paleo. Each time, they would work but then all her symptoms would eventually come back. She couldn’t maintain the restrictive parts of them and it had got to a point that she didn’t know what to eat and was even afraid to eat.

This started to change when she joined WAL nearly two years ago…

Lisa has been a huge...

#11: Kids food with Emma Sgourakis - The Nutrition Coach

Uncategorized Jul 03, 2020

Do you have kids? Are you unsure on what you should feed them?

I reckon about 90% of the women in our program have one or more kids, so I get questions all the time where women are asking

‘What should I be feeding my kids? What should I put in their lunchboxes?’

In this podcast episode, I talk to the wonderful Emma Sgourakis, The Nutrition Coach, close friend and co-founder of Saturee about what foods to feed your kids and what kind of foods you should be putting in their lunchboxes.

Emma opens up about how she’s managed food with her kids and how it’s constantly changing with them. She says she noticed with her kids how they gravitated toward certain foods, like fruits and even liver until recently.

Emma also doesn’t recommend exposing your children, who have immature and developing digestive tracts, to high cellulose foods.

This could damage their digestive tracts setting them up for health issues or food intolerances as adults. Instead,...

Uncategorized Jun 19, 2020

Meet Margie Arbon and Jane Davidson.

Both of these ladies have been in our WinAtLife program for 18 months. They are two inspiring and gorgeous women who have overcome their autoimmune diseases with sugar and strength.

In this SugarBabes episode, we talk about how they overcame their conditions and what mindset shifts they had to get there.

Jane is in her 40s and Margie is in her 50s, both have kids. They originally joined WinAtLife to lose weight and balance their hormones. And they both had arthritic autoimmune conditions (spondyloarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis).

#9: Healing your metabolism is the key to weight loss with Jess Ash Wellness

Uncategorized Jun 10, 2020

Most women don’t actually know why sugar is “bad.” Most of us take the fitness industry’s word for it amongst other things.

In this podcast episode, I caught up with the gorgeous and knowledgeable Jessica, a Hormone and PCOS Nutritionist who is well-known on Instagram as @jessicaashwellness. We discussed the misconceptions around sugar and why weight gain can be a necessary part of healing your metabolism and fixing your hormones.

I’ve followed Jessica for a while and she has a similar background to many women in our program (and me). She’s done all the fad diets from Intermittent Fasting, Low Carb, to Paleo and Keto.

While she noticed some improvements in her clients and herself when on these low carb diets, she also noticed in some ways she and her clients weren’t feeling any better, like losing hair, adrenal issues, and not sleeping. Then she came across Danny Roddy and found Ray Peat’s work.

From there, Jessica began...

Are you numbing your feelings with alcohol?
